Solstice Dental Plan Enhanced

The CSEA Employee Benefit Fund (EBF) is making some important changes to the Solstice Dental Plan. The changes, that were approved by the EBF's Board of Trustees at its October 17, 2017 Board Meeting, will enhance and improve many of the dental plan's most commonly used services. The upgrades will take effect on January 1, 2018.

The Solstice program is a relatively new EBF dental plan offering that was approved by the Fund's Trustees in 2010. The Plan has been reviewed by the EBF's actuary every year since inception. The EBF is pleased to be able to implement some significant enhancements that will provide even better dental options for plan participants.

Effective January 1, 2018, Solstice Dental Plan allowances will be increased. While the specific details will be outlined in new Plan booklets that will be mailed to participants, some of the procedures increased include exams, cleaning, x-rays, crowns, root canal therapy, periodontal services, complete and partial dentures, extractions and orthodontic services.

One of the most important changes is a revision of the frequency limit for exams and cleanings. The EBF will now allow three exams and cleanings per calendar year. In order to maximize the positive impact for participants, the allowances for these services will be outside of a participant's calendar year maximum.

The EBF's Board of Trustees is constantly trying to improve our benefit offerings. The EBF is pleased to be able to implement these plan improvements.
